sessions – what to expect
The first session will be about getting to know you. We will be interested in hearing about you, your situation and your concerns. This will help to determine the focus and goals of counselling.
Sessions are 50 minutes.
Occasionally a longer session may be offered if multiple people are attending a session. This is decided in accordance with the needs of those attending and the purpose of the session. Longer sessions are arranged in advance with your therapist.
The length of therapy will depend on your goals for change. It can is important to discuss expectations to ensure the goals have a realistic time frame.
Regular reviews are a healthy way to stop and check that we are ‘on track’ with meeting your goals or to help identify any roadblocks.
PAYMENT AND MEDICARE rebate
We accept cash or bank transfer. We do not accept cheques. Credit card and HICAPS facilities will be available in early 2016.
Medicare rebates are available to clients referred under the Better Access Scheme. The referrer must be a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.
The Better Access Scheme enables clients to receive a rebate on specific therapeutic services for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year.
